WILL I GET FIRED FROM MY JOB?
"Will I get fired from my job?" is a question I hear regularly in counseling. Here are a few suggestions to help you secure your job:
Like your boss and get along with him or her. Do not compete with your boss in front of other employees, trying to show that you are as smart as or smarter than the boss.
Obey office rules. If you have disagreements about them or other things of a business nature, talk in private with him or her.
Be polite and courteous to other workers. Always be positive, not negative, about what is going on in the workplace.
Even if you are not crazy about your boss, find something to like about her or him and talk about that with other workers.
Give your job your best energy and work hard. It's not a matter of how much work you can get out of, but how much you can produce. Your boss will notice your work and if you are ambitious and concerned about your work.
Above all, be on time. Being late is never excusable, unless it's caused by a dire emergency.
You can't be successful on your job if you hate your job, don't like your boss and can't stand the people you work with - or if you work hard only when the boss is looking. If this describes your situation, then you certainly have reason to believe that you could be fired.
Companies and bosses don't fire good help - employees who get along with others and who get quality work done efficiently.
So, if you are concerned about getting fired, look to yourself and examine what kind of worker you are. Then ask yourself honestly if you were the boss would you keep you as an employee, or let you go? If you want to keep your job, make sure you are the kind of employee who helps, not hinders, achieving the company's goals and objectives.
And change whatever you need to to ensure you are that kind of employee.
